Mercy Clinic Pediatrics Clayton/Clarkson is seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our growing pediatric team. In this role, you'll support providers in delivering exceptional care to children and their families while helping ensure a positive, efficient patient experience.

As a Medical Assistant, you will provide both clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced outpatient setting. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

What You'll Do
  • Greet and room patients while obtaining and documenting vital signs.
  • Collect and update medical histories, including medication reconciliation.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits and procedures.
  • Perform basic diagnostic testing, including urine dipsticks, glucose testing, and EKGs as appropriate.
  • Accurately document patient care in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Reinforce patient education as directed by providers and nursing staff.
  • Maintain exam room cleanliness and stock necessary supplies.
  • Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments.
  • Assist with front-office responsibilities including answering phones, patient check-in/check-out, document management, and fax processing.
  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings.
  • Perform other duties within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to attend and successfully complete Mercy's MA Clinic Academy training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
Preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • One year of experience in an outpatient, ambulatory, or physician office setting.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR).
  • Pediatric experience preferred but not required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Outpatient pediatric clinic with frequent patient interaction.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, twisting, and squatting throughout the workday.
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Potential exposure to infectious materials; appropriate PPE is provided.
