Overview:

 

Step-Down Unit | Full-Time | 36hrs/wk | Nights 7p-7a

 

The Patient Care Associate works under the supervision of the Manager and/or Director/Executive Director, and is responsible for the delivery of efficient, safe patient care within the scope of practice as established by the Missouri State Board of Nursing and hospital policies and procedures. Duties to include admission of patients according to hospital policy, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADL's) to include bathing, dressing and undressing, feeding, positioning, comforting, ambulation, passive range of motion and other activities as necessary. May perform other assigned duties as required. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values and Mercy Service Standards.


Qualifications:

  • Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Experience: Previous healthcare experience and/or CNA.
  • Certifications: BLS before taking care of patients independently. Mercy PCA (Pt Care Associate) training within 3 months of hire. PCA training as assigned by TDO.
  • Skills required within 90 days of hire: Ability/skill to draw blood, care for immunocompromised patients and renal compromised patients.
  • Other: Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills are required.

It is the expectation that the scope of this role will include duties and responsibilities at Mercy Hospital Carthage and Mercy Hospital Joplin as needed. All standards, requirements, training, qualifications, competencies and job responsibilities stated are assumed for all locations worked while under the capacity of this role.
