• Advancement through career ladder to Patient Care Technician (PCT) and beyond
???⚕️ Patient Care Associate (PCA) Responsibilities:
• ???? Obtain and document vital signs in the electronic medical record
• ????️ Assist with meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, mobility, and transport
• ????️ Provide clerical support as needed
???⚕️ Patient Care Technician (PCT) Responsibilities:
• All PCA duties
• ???? Phlebotomy / blood cultures
• ???? Enteral feeding
• ???? Wound care
• ???? IV / Foley removal
• ???? Trach care and suctioning
??? Training
• Our PCA training program is an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program offering hands-on experience in a supportive healthcare environment
• No experience? Mercy provides a 175-hour required training program meeting DHSS requirements (completed within 90 days of hire)
• ✅ BLS required within 1 month of hire
• ✅ PCA competencies completed within 3 months of hire
??? Qualifications
• ???? High school diploma or G.E.D
• ???? CNA / CPTC OR enrolled in a high school healthcare career program
• ???? Current Mercy co-worker also eligible
