Position Details:

RN - Mercy IBD and GI Center

Employment Type: Full Time, Monday through Friday

Location: Kirkwood, MO

Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver Specialized IBD Care: Provide expert patient assessment, triage, education, and ongoing care coordination for IBD and GI patients.

- Infusion/Injection Services: Perform and monitor GI-related infusions and injections across the East Community, ensuring adherence to protocols and patient safety standards.

- Care Coordination: Collaborate with gastroenterologists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, nutritionists, and social workers to support comprehensive treatment plans.

- Medication Management: Support complex medication regimens (e.g., biologics, immunomodulators), including prior authorization support, refills, and patient adherence coaching.

- Symptom Management: Monitor and respond to changes in patient symptoms, escalate as appropriate, and provide timely interventions to prevent avoidable ED visits or readmissions.

- Patient Education & Advocacy: Educate patients and families on disease processes, therapies, self-management, and post-infusion care; promote health literacy and shared decision-making.

- Quality & Safety: Document accurately in EPIC EMR, follow evidence-based protocols, and contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing hospital readmissions and improving patient satisfaction.

- Operational Support: Help streamline workflows, support clinic throughput, and contribute to a positive team environment focused on reducing burnout and improving efficiency.

Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for nursing, care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medications and their effects, patient education, principles to develop a self-care program, instruments and common safety practices.
Certifications: CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
