Responsible for the overall operations of the Surgical services. Responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, organizing, directing the schedules and staff assignments. Participates in marketing of Perioperative services. Maintains open communication and transparency. Adheres to Mercy Culture which in part is evidenced by professional behavior, mutual respect, and be in right relationships. Maintains active communication between medical staff and operating room staff ensuring quality care, issue resolution and Perioperative staff competency.
Implements nursing care in accordance with nursing division standards of practice, hospital, community, national standards and regulatory agency requirements.
>Monitors, revises, and adapts current specialty nursing practice in light of changing concepts, methods, techniques and written standards of care.
>Enforces written standards of care relevant to specialized area and maintains standards within area accepted practice parameters.
>Executes monitoring mechanism for assessment of specialty delivered care.
Evaluates specialty assigned staff performance based on standards of care.
Ensures a safe, supportive environment for staff, medical staff, patients.
>Enforces clinical and operational policy/procedures for specialty services operations.
- Experience: Three years' in a specialty surgical service required. Must demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills. Use of desktop computers, copiers, general office and patient care equipment.
- Required Education: Graduate from an accredited RN program
- Certifications/Licensure: BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications- upon hire or complete training during the orientation period. Required certifications must be current before being assigned to care for patients independently.
- Other: BSN preferred. Formal job course work in business management and supervision suggested. Progressive leadership skills desirable with proven track record of success in Perioperative services with attention to personnel productivity and utilization methodologies, nursing staff methodologies, communication and customer relations.
