Under the supervision of an RN, provides close observation of patients. Assists in the provision of a safe and clean environment. Promotes the therapeutic environment and the efficiency of the nursing team. Provides safe patient transport throughout the facility as directed.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support instruction upon hire or current before assigned to care for patients independently.
Other: Skills, knowledge and abilities: Capable of observing patient and remaining alert at all times while on duty. Ability to communicate with hospital co-workers and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes by reporting and summoning assistance. Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients,visitors and staff. Working conditions, mental and physical requirements: Ability to sit for long periods of time remaining alert without distractions from personal business or other personal diversions. Occasional standing and walking.
Preferred Education: Enrollment in a health care curriculum.
Preferred Experience: Previous experience in a health care environment.
