Overview:

 

The Medical Technologist Student works under the general supervision of the Medical Technologist--Lead and/or Laboratory Director, and assists the physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of medical disorders and in evaluating patient recovery, by performing, analyzing and documenting a variety of microscopic, bacteriologic and/or chemical diagnostic laboratory tests; conducts advanced tests specific to a particular laboratory section, i.e. Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microbiology, etc.; performs incidental specimen procurement, preparation and processing. As the Sisters of Mercy before us, we bring to life the healing ministry of Jesus through our compassionate care and exceptional service.


Qualifications:

Education: Post-secondary (undergraduate).
Experience: Enrolled in an accredited MSL or MLT program.  
Certifications: MT (ASCP) Eligible--MO.
Other: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as analytical and mathematical ability required to analyze and interpret test results, noting abnormatlities and contradictory results, including determination of casualty. Ability to operate various equipment and computers in a clinical lab environment.
