Mercy St. Louis is seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse Supervisor to support our Pediatrics/PICU team. This role blends hands-on patient care with leadership, coordination, and mentorship—ideal for nurses looking to elevate their impact while remaining close to the bedside.

The Nurse Supervisor functions as both a clinical leader and bedside nurse, ensuring safe, efficient unit operations while supporting staff and patients. This role assumes delegated managerial responsibilities and promotes Mercy's Mission, Values, and Service Standards in every interaction.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate patient placement and daily staff assignments
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff and assist with patient care as needed
- Supervise and direct clinical activities; respond to urgent or unexpected patient changes
- Facilitate staff attendance at meetings and educational activities
- Collaborate with medical staff, families, department leaders, and interdisciplinary teams
- Support unit orientation, staff education, and adherence to policies and procedures
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based projects
- Assist the manager with unit operations, staffing, budgeting, and timekeeping accuracy
- Maintain appropriate inventory, supplies, equipment, and the physical environment
- Serve on nursing and medical center committees as assigned
- Perform staff nurse duties based on unit acuity and census
- Complete additional responsibilities as assigned
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program
- Active RN license in the hiring state and/or compact state (in good standing)
- Minimum 2 years of patient care experience
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) upon hire or within 30 days
(Required or obtained within department timeframe, based on assignment)
- ACLS, PALS, NRP
- ENPC, TNCC, PEARS
- CPHON, OCN, C-EFM
- S.T.A.B.L.E.
- Other unit-specific certifications as required
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach, grip, and twist to perform job duties
