Position: Surgical Technologist

Department: Operating Room - Mercy Lebanon

Hours / Shift: Full-Time Days, 40 Hours Per Week

Call Back Requirement: 40 Minutes 

Overview

Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality.

Job Duties: 

  •  Anticipates surgeon and operative team members needs regarding care delivery, maintaining sterile technique and comfort.
  • Assist surgeon in a knowledgeable, efficient and courteous manner.
  • Knows procedure and/or utilizes preference cards to assure instrument and equipment needs are available so team can stay patient focused
  •  Inspects instruments and power equipment prior to use to assure operational order and troubleshoots, reports, and removes faulty instrument and equipment from service.
  • Performs or assists in sterile preps as needed/requested by monitoring aseptic techniques of surgical team members at field, reporting and correcting breaks in sterile technique immediately, and controlling location of contaminated instruments and supplies

Qualifications

  • Education: High-School Diploma or GED.
  • Licensure: Surgical Technology License required for the state of Missouri.
  • Experience: Non-certified applicants may be considered for this position with acceptable surgical technology experience.
  • Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
