Find your calling at Mercy! Serves as a bridge to augment the growth of the surgical technologist student as she/he transitions from the student role to that of a career surgical technologist. Position Details:
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited or approved Surgical Tech program. Must be in process of completing a clinical rotation or be an active participant in a Mercy on-the-job surgical tech training program. Must be within one semester of completion of the accredited Surgical Tech program.
Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Must have completed the first and second cohort of the Surgical Technology program. Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques used in the preparation of materials, supplies and equipment for various surgical procedures. Knowledge of various types of equipment used in the operating room. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Basic computer proficiency.
Physical Requirements:
• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
