Position Summary

Montage Health offers an outstanding Nurse Residency Program for Registered Nurses. The residency is 12 weeks in duration, during which participants work 72 hours per two-week pay period. Applicants must be able to work any day of the week, including weekends. Participation requires schedule flexibility, and Paid Leave/Vacation time off cannot be accommodated during the residency program.

Under the leadership of the residency program coordinator(s), the resident will participate in a cohort-based learning experience. The program includes, skills and practice in the classroom/skills lab, supportive debriefings, and one-to-one preceptor support for clinical shifts to facilitate the transition to acute care professional nursing practice.

On the clinical units, the resident's practice will be supported by preceptors, under the leadership of unit directors, assistant directors, nursing supervisors, and/or charge nurses. The registered nurse at Montage Health is responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions designed to meet patient needs and promote optimal health. The resident's nursing practice will reflect the policies and procedures of the organization and department.

After successful completion of the nurse residency program (phase 1), residents will be become permanent staff members on the unit to which they were hired. The resident must complete orientation and initial competency assessment prior to applicable independent patient assignment.

Experience

This program is designed for new graduate nurses who have graduated from an accredited pre-licensure nursing program within 12 months of the August 7, 2026 start date.

Education  

Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.

Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill, and must complete and pass all annual competencies.

Licensure/Certifications

An unencumbered California RN license is required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required. New graduates who have not taken their NCLEX may apply, however, successful completion of the NCLEX must occur by the program start date.

The Float Pool provides comprehensive care for a diverse adult population across multiple clinical settings. The team specializes in the care of high-acuity telemetry patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, titratable drips, post-CVA (stroke) support, and post-interventional cardiac catheterization care. Additionally, Float Pool nurses provide support to medical-surgical units and behavioral health departments, requiring a high degree of versatility and clinical expertise across the organization.

 

Garden East is a high-acuity medical-surgical unit providing comprehensive care for adult patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and titratable cardiac drips. The unit specializes in the care of post-interventional cardiac catheterization patients and post-CVA (stroke) patients. The nursing team provides advanced cardiovascular support and neurovascular monitoring focused on stabilization and recovery.

 

Garden West is a high-acuity medical-surgical unit providing comprehensive care for adult patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and titratable cardiac drips. The unit specializes in the care of post-interventional cardiac catheterization patients and post-CVA (stroke) patients. The nursing team provides advanced cardiovascular support and neurovascular monitoring focused on stabilization and recovery.

 

Main East is a medical-surgical unit that provides comprehensive care for a diverse adult population, with a primary focus on elective and non-elective orthopedic and spinal surgeries. The nursing team provides expert musculoskeletal care, emphasizing advanced pain management, mobility restoration, and post-operative recovery for patients following complex bone and spine procedures.

 

Main Pavilion is a high-acuity medical-surgical unit for adult patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and titratable cardiac drips. The unit specializes in the care of post-interventional cardiac catheterization patients, post-CVA (stroke) patients, and post-operative open-heart patients following their first 24 hours of recovery. The nursing team provides advanced cardiovascular support and neurovascular monitoring focused on stabilization and progressive healing.

 

Main West is medical-surgical unit serving a diverse patient population across the lifespan. The unit provides specialized care for adult medical-surgical patients, post-operative gynecological surgery patients, and pediatric patients. Additionally, the unit serves as an overflow for the Family Birth Center, supporting the care of mothers and newborns.

 

Terrace East is an adult medical-surgical unit providing comprehensive care for a diverse patient population, with a specialized focus on bariatric, urological, and gastrointestinal surgery. The unit is dedicated to managing the unique clinical needs of these surgical populations, emphasizing safe post-operative recovery and the promotion of optimal long-term health outcomes.

 

Terrace West is a specialized medical-surgical unit serving the adult population, with a primary focus on oncology and hematology. The unit provides comprehensive care for patients managing complex medical conditions, including the administration of specialized treatments and supportive care for blood-related and cancerous disorders.

The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid.
