Shift/Hours/Location: M-F, 8am-5pm, Onsite, Moses Lake, WA

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON

  • Follow safety procedures and regulations.
  • Follow written procedures for laboratory experiments and analysis.
  • Interact well within the group/department.
  • Interact well with other groups/departments as needed.
  • Critically evaluate procedures and identify potential issues/inconsistencies.
  • Assist in resolving issues in procedures.
  • Take on additional duties - Lab Safety Officer, Rep. to Safety Council.
  • Formulate additional procedures as necessary - determine difference between new procedure vs. change.
  • Prepare reports - presentations or written documents - for internal purposes.
  • Assist in formulating test plans for projects.
  • Support domestic and international customers, including domestic and international travel to customer sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline such as biology or physics required.
  • One to two years of relevant experience in an industrial or academic setting (Experience in electrochemistry, organic chemistry, organic synthesis, and/or analytical chemistry is preferred).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including the demonstrated ability to read and implement written work procedures such as MLI Standard Operating Procedures and published standard methods such as ASTM methods, and chemical literature with minimal direct supervision.
  • Working knowledge of computers and MS Office software.
  • Working knowledge of arithmetic and grammar.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • Read, understand apply information in Material Safety Data Sheets to ensure safe handling and use of chemicals and laboratory apparatus.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in order to meet established deadlines.
  • Work as a team and/or independently.
  • Perform tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering is highly preferred.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $28.32 - $35.67/hour

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties are generally performed indoors in an office/lab and high purity manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.  When working in the presence of safety hazards, the employee is expected to follow company safety rules and use proper personal protective equipment such as: hardhat, respirator, safety glasses and full leather shoes, etc.
