Description
At NorthBay Health, the Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care in support of a provider in an ambulatory care setting. Distribution of staff and patients may require reassignment to other nursing areas. The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for monitoring and auditing clinic operations to ensure adherence to regulatory and professional standards.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Provides direct patient care according per organizational policies and procedures.
Prepares patient for provider including vital signs and collection of clinical data.
Administers medications to patients, including, oral, injections, IV's and nebulizer treatments as ordered by provider.
Assists provider and/or performs procedures in assigned area within scope of practice.
Documents patient encounters according to nursing policies.
Reviews preventative guidelines.
Keeps an inventory and prepares orders for supplies.
Actively participates in QI activities.
Presents a professional demeanor in appearance and attitude.
Provides laboratory (phlebotomy) coverage as needed.
Performs audits to ensure adherence to regulatory and professional standards.
Assists with the medication reconciliation/medication refill process relative to the electronic medical record.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Floats to other areas as needed.
Qualifications
Education: Completion of accredited LVN Program.
Licensure/Certification: Current California LVN license. IV certified or obtains IV certification within 60 days of hire. Current AHA or equivalent certification in CPR
Experience: One year experience in ambulatory care setting preferred.
Skills: Demonstrated effective time management skills. Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing ambulatory nursing care as appropriate for patients in the following age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal. Bilingual preferred.

Hours of Work: Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 and 5:30.
