At NorthBay health, this role is a member of the Health Information Management Team and is responsible for the day to day operational management of the hospital coding services and documentation integrity program to ensure that coding/documentation meet regulatory standards and to support the financial and operation goals of the organization. Manages the staffing and scheduling of employees, staff development and fostering of interdisciplinary, collaborative relationships among providers and staff.  Provides coding expertise and data governance oversight through a coding compliance and data quality plan.  Oversees data quality activities to ensure coded data that is public reported is of the highest quality.

Qualifications

  1. Education:  Bachelor's Degree required.  
  2. Licensure/Certification:  Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).  
  3. Experience: Three (3) years prior supervisor/manager level.  Active experience in implementing and supporting healthcare information systems. 
  4. Skills:  Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and present information in an organized manner on a routine basis.  Knowledge and experience with Personal Computers and computer systems.  Must have excellent organizational skills, be able to set priorities, work independently and be an effective leader. Demonstrated ability to lead others in complying with policies and procedures. Demonstrated auditing skills for coding quality and compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.  Knowledge of electronic and paper medical records; electronic health information trends & operations.

  6.  Hours: Based on business need.
  7. Compensation: $140K to $150K based on years of experience doing the role.
