SALARY: $15.00 Hourly

NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK:32 HOURS PER WEEK


INTERN DUTIES/PROJECTS
 

  1. Assist with data collection and analysis for research projects related to healthcare, health promotion, disease prevention, or wellness initiatives.
  2. Assist with research and development of educational materials on health topics for various audiences.
  3. Assist with program development and implementation for health promotion or wellness initiatives.
  4. Observe and learn from health administration and healthcare professional in a variety of settings.
  5. Attend relevant workshops, seminars, or training sessions offered by Oneida Comprehensive Health Division (OCHD) and/or Oneida Nation.
  6. Assist with marketing projects and initiatives to promote OCHD.
  7. Enhance OCHD communication regarding healthcare.
  8. Integrate skills to align communication strategies with unique perspectives, contexts, and values.
  9. Adhere to all Tribal Personnel Policies and Procedures, Tribal Standard Operating Procedures, and Area and Program Strategic Plans and Policies.
  10. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

INTERN SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/COLLEGE MAJOR
 
  1. Major in: Health Science and Wellness Program, Health & Medical Administrative Services Program, Health Care Administration Program, Business Administration with Healthcare/Wellness Emphasis Program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  1. Frequently walk and sit; reach with hands and arms.
  2. Occasionally stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  3. Work is generally performed in an office setting.
  4. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
  5. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  2. Ability to learn of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  3. Ability to learn operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  5. Employees are required to have proof of immunity or dates of 2 doses of MMR and Varicella prior to starting in any position within the Oneida Comprehensive Health Division. Any refusal of vaccination(s) or failure to provide proof of immunity may disqualify the applicant.
  6. Must comply with Caregiver Law and Grant conditions criminal history checks as a condition of employment to include fingerprinting.
  7. Complete Oneida Certification on Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect training within ninety (90) days of employment
  8. Must adhere to strict confidentiality in all matters. (Must sign a confidentiality statement prior to employment.)
  9. Must complete Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training within 30 days of internship.
  10. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. Must adhere to the Nation's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  11. Must pass a background security check with the Oneida Nation in order to meet the Employment Eligibility Requirements, Tribal/State Compact and/or Oneida Nation Gaming Ordinance as they pertain to the position. A temporary license or Gaming License issued by the Oneida Gaming Commission is required as a condition of employment and continuing employment within the Oneida Nation's Gaming Division.
