ENROLLED ONEIDA TRIBAL MEMBERS ONLY



Summary:

The purpose of this program is to provide Enrolled Oneida Nation Members who are currently enrolled in a post-secondary school and need to gain experience related to their certificate or degree. SEOTS will provide student internships with hands-on experience assisting members including, but not limited to, youth, elders, and families in the various SEOTS programs. The internship will provide an opportunity to gain practical experience with developing programs and community events including creating, organizing, and recruitment.


Responsibilities:

SEOTS Program Facilitation: 75% 

  • Youth Programs
  1. Collaborate with the community programs coordinator and manager to lead youth activities for two different age groups (6-11, 12-17)
  2. Lead youth discussions on topics ranging from culture, history, and current eventsGather youth feedback regarding youth program events and activities. 
  • Elder Programs 
  1.  Collaborate with the community programs coordinator and manager to coordinate and lead elder activities including luncheons 
  2. Meal planning and prepping 
  3.  Recruiting participants for activities 
  4.  Leading various activities and/or crafts for elders to participate in 
  5.  Family and Community Programs and Events
  6.  Assist with coordination of family and community events 
  7.  Meal planning and prepping 
  8.  Activity coordination including but not limited to crafts and cultural activities 
  9.  Recruitment
  • SEOTS Receptionist: 20% 
  1. Answer phones and provide general information about SEOTS events/activities
  2. Sign up clients for SEOTS programs and services 
  3. Connect SEOTS clients to appropriate SEOTS staff
  • General Assistance: 5% 
  1. General set-up for SEOTS events 
  2.  SEOTS building organization and cleaning
  • Above duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position.
  • The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Skills:

Essential:
* Communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing

* Ability to demonstrate a high level of sensitivity to community issues and concerns
* Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
* Ability and wiliness to obtain Oneida Certification on reporting Child Abuse and Neglect is required within ninety (90) days of employment
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets and database software programs.
* Comfortable working with and guiding small groups of youth
* Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.

Education Requirement - Or A Closely Related Field:

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:

Must pass a background check to meet Employment Eligibility Requirements. If applicable, must pass a background check to meet Oneida Nation/State Compact and/or Oneida Nation Gaming Ordinance, and may be required to obtain a temporary license and/or Gaming license as a condition of employment.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide current unofficial transcript for proof of enrollment (Current College Students) or proof of acceptance into college.

Must complete a Background Information Disclosure (BID) form.
