Position: Portal Security Guard
Status: Full Time
Site Name: Imperial Oil - Sarnia
Site Address: 252 Chippewa Street, Sarnia, ON
Shift: Continental Rotation Day/Night 05:30 - 17:30
Rate: $19.00/hr through training and for six months/ $21.29/hr after successful completion of six months of training completion with no issues
Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement - calculated after 88 hours bi-weekly

Reporting to the Security Front Line Supervisor serving Imperial Oil, this position has the primary responsibility to perform all duties related to the Site Access Control System to control access to the Imperial Oil Site for the purpose of security.
This position requires familiarity with the Imperial Oil site and its practices, as well as extensive general computer knowledge in order to perform all required tasks.
The Security guard is expected to represent Paladin Security Group as well as the facility they are assigned to.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor and patrol the premises to ensure safety and security
- Perform regular security checks of the property, including parking areas, entrances, exits and other designated areas
- Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized access or unlawful activities
- Control access at entry points and ensure only authorized personnel enter the premises
- Respond to alarms, disturbances or emergencies and take appropriate actions as needed
- Assist in the enforcement of company policies and procedures, including monitoring and reporting any suspicious activities
- Report any incidents, accidents or security breaches promptly to the management team
- Complete daily logs and security reports, documenting any unusual occurrences
- Provide assistance to employees, visitors and vendors as needed
- Monitor surveillance cameras and security equipment, ensuring they are functioning properly
- Report and broadcast emergency procedures, drills and testing
- Cooperate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other authorities when necessary
- Ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained and ready for use
Prerequisites
- Valid Ontario Security License
- Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
- Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Mental Health Act
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
Valid Ontario Security License
