Job Skills / Requirements Position: Full-Time Security Operator Site: Kingston General Hospital - 76 Stuart Hours: Continental Rotation - 0800-2000/2000-0800 Payrate: $18.71/hour

Schedule Example:

• Week 1 - 0800-2000 - 4 Days (Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat)
• Week 2 - 0800-2000 - 3 Days (Sun, Wed-Thurs)
• Week 3 - 2000-0800 - 4 Days (Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat)
• Week 4 - 2000-0800 - 3 Days (Sun, Wed-Thurs)
• Note: The schedule remains the same month-to-month

Job Description: 

In this key role, you will oversee a state-of-the-art healthcare Control Centre.  Your role will be to monitor numerous systems including fire and life safety, access control, and CCTV.  You will assist in tracking and deployment of security staff and handle a variety of dispatch duties including incident call taking. 

• Dispatch Security Guards to incidents, requests for assistance, emergencies, etc.
• Maintain control of access to and from the property
• Log details of radio transmission, telephone calls, and verbal instructions
• Direct backup support as necessary
• Inform management of major incidents
• Maintain the Camera Surveillance System
• Answer all incoming security telephone lines including the complex emergency telephone line.
• Ensure that security operations occur consistent with policy and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

• This position does not require a security license
• Must be able to provide a copy of immunization records (must include: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, TB Skin Tests 1 & 2)
• Must be able to provide proof of (minimum) double COVID-19 vaccination
• Valid First Aid/CPR - Level C certification (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Demonstrated 6+ months experience in control centre/dispatch role
• Experience in healthcare is considered an asset
• Experience in security is considered an asset
• Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism
• Must have a strong command, comprehension, and fluency in the English language - both written and verbal 
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
• Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress
• Must demonstrate high attention to detail/observational awareness
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team
• Post-secondary education in IT/Computer Science fields strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience with computers, phones, and surveillance is strongly preferred
