Site Description: Saint Mary's University offers higher education to nearly 6000 students on its beautiful campus in South-End Halifax.
Position Details:
Position: Site Supervisor
Overtime: After 48 hours
Hours: Monday through Friday, 0800-1600
Payrate: $19.38
Posting Date: June 3, 2025

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the University Security Manager on a usual business hours basis (M-F, 0800-1600) and may do so while functioning in the role of Dispatcher, Patrol, or another role, as may be required.
- Organize and assign shift duties, filling shortfalls, as required;
- Provide oversight and guidance for shift staff, ensuring duties are properly conducted and client needs are being met;
- Ensure time sheets are properly prepared;
- Inform the University Security Manager regarding any unusual occurrences, on an immediate basis;
- Ensure that the personal appearance of all Security Officers meets the required standard;
- Perform associated clerical and administrative requirements;
- Supervise general office routine;
- Monitor, control and assist with problem solving for the Ccure access system, including managing lock/unlock schedules, and issuing and managing access cards in accordance with
policy and procedures; - Responding to various client needs and/or complaints and escalating same to the University Security Manager, when necessary and/or appropriate.
Prerequisites:
- Valid Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
- Valid Driver License
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
