Position: | Temporary Full-Time Security Supervisor - Queens University 
Site: | Queens University Library  -101 Union St 
Hours: | Various 
Payrate: | $29.00/hour 

Overtime Method: | Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Greet and interact with staff, students, and visitors politely and professionally 
  • Ensure all staff, visitors, and vendors are following the protocols for Queens University 
  • Provide assistance as necessary to staff and students 
  • Assist visitors as necessary with wayfinding as required 
  • Proactive, consistent patrols of the campus 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with maintaining the utmost professionalism 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexible, and customer service orientation  
  • Remain calm and effectively perform in emergency situations 
  • Able to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures 
  • Report writing and note taking 
  • Surveillance monitoring 
  • Being alert and observant while being outside, standing or walking for an extended period in all weather conditions 
  • Maintain communication with fellow security guards, dispatch, clients, and management 
  • Work independently 
  • Ensure all site staff adhere to Paladin Security policies and procedures 
  • Ensure proper documentation is passed onto the Shift Leads/Dispatchers, clients, and Paladin management team 
  • Document and investigate security incidents and complaints 
  • Communicates any concerns/issues with reporting supervisor/Client Service Manager 
  • Be observant and record all discrepancies, deficiencies and safety hazards/concerns noted during patrols and take corrective action  
  • Be courteous and helpful in enforcing all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations. 
  • Respond immediately to any emergency and co-ordinate response accordingly based off established procedures. 
  • Maintain the highest standard of security; be professional in attitude, appearance and application. 
  • Perform security duties in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure they are being conducted within the limitations of any federal, provincial, and municipal laws. 
  • Additional duties as required 

Job Requirements: 

  • Ability to work alone and be self-motivated 
  • Valid Ontario Security License 
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor) 
  • Minimum 1 year of security experience required
    • Experience in commercial security will be preferred 
  • English fluency (written and oral) required 
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) 
    • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position 
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability 
  • Attend 4 days of blended (virtual/in-class) pre-deployment training at the Kingston Branch office 
  • Authorized to legally work in Canada
