POSITION SUMMARY
Manages the Celebrations department. This department develops and implements programs that promote health, wellbeing, active aging and support the companies residential experience philosophy. These programs are designed to promote whole person wellness through various programs and events: social and community involvement, participatory and spectator events, intellectual and learning opportunities, creative arts and music, traditional and nontraditional spiritual programs, volunteer opportunities, various and diverse outings, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
· Provides leadership for Celebrations department.
· Supervises additional Celebrations team members.
· Oversees outside vendors and independent contractors.
· Plans, schedules and conducts Celebrations programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities for the residents.
· Facilitates and analyzes annual Resident Celebrations Interest Survey to determine ongoing programs and events are in place that meet the resident interests. Completes survey for each new resident within 30 days of moving in.
· Plans appropriate programs for holidays and special events.
· Recruits and develops additional resources for services to the residents. Initiates correspondence including public relations communications with outside organizations, service groups and volunteers.
· Advises and motivates residents regarding appropriate individual and group events based on resident interests and opportunities for growth.
· Prepares and organizes the Celebrations calendar of events. Submits the calendar to the Executive Director for final approval.
· Oversees resident facing technology ensuring team members and residents are trained and ensuring information is kept up to date; calendar digital sign, in-house TV system, Alexa integration, and resident app where applicable.
· Develops and prints the community newsletter, if required by community Executive Director.
· Coordinates the community library.
· Purchases and maintains equipment and supplies in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
· Prepares preliminary draft of Celebrations Operating Budget.
· Recruits and supervises volunteer staff.
· Addresses resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest.
· Maintains a database and prepares reports on resident quality assurance assessments, participation and satisfaction.
· Participates in community in-services.
· Demonstrates competence in Federal, State and Local regulations, requirements for skilled nursing, assisted living and/or independent living as applicable; ensures compliance.
· Develops and facilitates sophisticated information regarding Celebrations events and programs on bulletin boards and/or kiosks in lobbies, elevators, dining rooms and other resident and team member communication centers.
· Maintains a robust public relations program in support of the event programming and community relations.
· Implements and facilitates a volunteer recognition program.
· Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises team members in the Celebrations Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members.
QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements and Experience:
· Two year degree required: Gerontology, Recreation, Education, Social Work, Adult Education or related field preferred
· Three to five years related experience: senior living program and events management preferred, recreation, wellness and/or events production acceptable.
· Two years supervisory/management experience required.
· Wellness certificate preferred (ICAA Leadership in Wellness).
· Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Language Ability:
o Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, speaking the primary language of the residents.
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
o Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
· Mathematical Skills:
o Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
· Cognitive Demands:
o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Computer Skills:
o Ability to use Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel. Ability to use software to design calendars and signs. Ability to use email and the Internet.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Team Member must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60-70 pounds. Must be able to conduct full exercise program that consists of low impact aerobics in and outside the water. These exercises include bending, twisting, repetitive movement of arms, legs and torso, which significantly increase heart rate and test endurance. Must be able to be on his/her feet 2-6 hours a day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
