Summary:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the warehouse team's efficiency and accuracy of filling customer orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material in a manner that meets customer demands as well as company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity. Responsible for the hiring of new employees, training, and ensuring the safety and maintenance of the warehouse.
What You'll Do:
- Contribute to a culture and environment focused daily on employee safety and a safe work environment
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures, Environmental Health and Safety Rules, and immediately address safety concerns
- Provide leadership through direct and indirect supervision of warehouse employees to achieve the highest possible levels of accuracy and productivity
- Manage inventory to provide more efficient warehouse flow and ensure accurate receiving and order filling processes
- Manage the annual physical inventory counting
- Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment and maintain the security of the warehouse
- Evaluate policies and procedures to improve efficiency and make recommendations for improvement
- Serve as primary contact between warehouse operation and other managers
- Communicate with customers and company personnel to resolve customer problems and expedite customer deliveries when necessary
- Evaluate shipping and delivery via common carriers; perform cost analyses and negotiate pricing for shipping services and common carriers
- Assist Branch Manager with development of warehouse budget and routinely analyze and control expenditures to meet budget requirements
- Evaluate and negotiate pricing for warehouse equipment, maintenance contracts, packing supplies, and other warehousing expenses
- May participate in seminars and training classes to enhance and maintain necessary business knowledge
- May fill in for other warehouse roles and make deliveries as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment preferred
- High School or GED - Required
- Ability to perform job duties of all departmental positions
- A thorough knowledge of warehousing principles, practices, and procedures is required
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills are required
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Organization and time management skills, detail oriented, able to prioritize in a multi-tasking environment and ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Knowledge in Lean and Process Flow Layout in Warehouses
- Ability to perform various tasks on computers, including the use of Excel, Outlook, and Word is required
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manual
