Richardson's UK operations encompass oat milling, malting, animal feed and ingredient processing. Operating under Richardson Oat Milling, Crisp Malt, EDME, and Micronized Food Products (MFP), Richardson supplies the domestic and international food, brewing, and distilling industries.
We currently have an opportunity for a Weighbridge Operator/Laboratory Technician with a 80/20 splitat our Crisp Malt, Great Ryburgh location.
Key Duties and Responsibilities - Weighbridge
Work to strict product specifications to ensure that grain is of the required quality at the intake stage.
Complete thorough checking of representative load samples of delivery to identify any detrimental attributes that could cause storage and processing issues or pose a food safety risk. These include but are not limited to insect infestation, ergot, fusarium, admixture and split or skinned corns.
Ensure that each load is delivered with the correct paperwork (combinable crops passport for raw grain) and paperwork is completed correctly.
Work with the site team to ensure vehicles are directed to the correct delivery locations
Work with the Intake Manager to ensure weighbridge and equipment is maintained and calibrated regularly, reporting of any defects.
Rotation and maintenance of sample storage.
Ensure that the grain management system is up to date and information is entered correctly.
Support with administration tasks, including cleaning schedules.
Ensure Weighbridge area is clean and tidy and complies with health and food safety regulations.
Assist with ensuring that vehicles loading in bulk are checked for cleanliness and the previous three loads are examined to comply with food safety regulations.
Ensure dispatch paperwork is completed correctly and dispatched with the correct product. Ensure the grain management system is kept up to date with the correct information.
Ensure required paperwork is completed correctly and records are maintained to comply with FEMAS regulations.
Ensure all equipment for the weighbridge are kept in good condition, are cleaned regularly and are checked for defaults. Any breakages must be reported to the Line Manager as soon as possible.
Ensure that the weighbridge area and Laboratory, both inside and outside is kept clean and tidy to an auditable standard to ensure compliance to food safety regulations and customer requirements.
Assist the site team to perform cleaning tasks around site as required.
Provide additional support to other areas of the site during reduced intake periods as requested by the site management team.
Work with the site team to ensure the safe, efficient and correct loading and dispatch of finished malt product and feed materials.
Key Duties and Responsibilities - Laboratory
Laboratory Analysis - Follow written methods of analysis ensuring the highest standards of accuracy. Ensure that test methodologies are properly understood and carried out.
Result Reporting – Report results in a timely manner. Compile, collate and analyse quality data as required.
Result Documentation – Record and keep results produced in the required format, paper, computer, LIMS etc.
Instrumentation and Equipment – Instruments and equipment should be maintained in a clean condition and be in a fully working order. Any equipment issues are to be reported to the Laboratory Manager.
Working Area - All areas should be kept clean and tidy to an auditable standard to ensure high hygiene standards.
Procedures – Maintain procedures as required to determine laboratory performance. This includes daily check malt and external analysis proficiency schemes.
Stock Levels – Monitor consumable and chemical stocks and any short falls be reported promptly to the Laboratory Manager.
Relationships – Good working relationship within the Laboratory, internal customers, so to promote Crisp Malt Laboratory as a high-quality service provider.
Ways of Working – Technicians should be flexible and through training, become proficient in all procedures. Technicians' knowledge is a resource which should be shared to mutual benefit.
Compliance – Comply with company, national and international standards and legislation as appropriate to laboratory and business operations to meet regulatory requirements.
General Responsibilities

Report identified hazards, near misses and accidents to your line manager as soon as possible to allow action to be taken.

Qualifications, skills and experience
Essential
