About the Job:

Type: Full time/Permanent

Wage: $95,000 - $100,000

Shifts: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

SUMMARY

The Senior Transportation Procurement Manager will be responsible for developing/refining the procurement strategy for a portfolio of Fortune 500 clients along with managing a small procurement team. This position will work hand-in-hand with strong mentors, talented local operations teams, and supply chain engineers to design, implement, and maintain best in class transportation solutions. Directly engage with supply chain leaders at diverse customer base and within many of the nation's leading transportation service providers. Develop and maintain a network of service providers and be responsible to foster the relationship while engaging them on the best opportunities for our mutual success

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serves as the liaison between the carrier and the customer. This includes in depth discussions with executive level leadership, understanding what both the carrier and customer needs are in order to align the relationships, acting on behalf of the carrier and/or customer when presenting and educating what the benefits are of building the business relationship

External client facing interaction and presentations to promote strategic procurement vision for client carrier portfolio

RFP creation and responsibility for analysis, strategic carrier selection, presentation, and route guide preparation

Carrier analysis, price, and service negotiations

Supervise others (hire, promote, coach, development, and performance management)

Interaction with internal business and support service teams

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Market research

Continuous improvement in all segments of the business

Strategic customer initiatives

Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree Business, Logistics or related field of study.

EXPERIENCE

Seven (7) years or more experience Previous experience conducting presentations and supervising others.

One (1) year or more experience Prior experience conducting presentations to both internal & external customers

One (1) year or more experience Prior experience in negotiations and building strategic business relationships

SKILLS

Ability to handle and analyze large data files and respond with the customer in mind

Ability to develop procurement strategy to support alignment with client goals and business requirements

Demonstrated proficiency to independently communicate strategic plans & presentations both internally and externally

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors). Strong ability to work with others (customer, carriers & Ryder)

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment.

Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills.

Detailed oriented with excellent follow-up practices.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of logistics and the ability to integrate supply chain components; advanced level.

Working knowledge of TM capabilities & industry tools; advanced level.

Distribution and carrier management knowledge; advanced level.

Knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc); advanced level.

Working knowledge of standard procurement strategies/principles; advanced level.

Compensation Information :
