This senior engineering position provides Tier 3 level Citrix support to a large government department.  The preferred candidate will be a IT engineer with extensive hands-on experience with Citrix configuration, operations, management, maintenance, and architecture.  The qualified candidate will have extensive experience in analyzing, troubleshooting, and remediating end-user issues.

The position will have a hybrid telework arrangement with two telework days a week and the remaining workdays at a secure government facility within the Washington DC metropolitan area.  Work schedule will be Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Work location and schedule subject to change based on government requirements.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Performs engineering technical support for Microsoft Server 2022, Citrix LTSR 2402, VMware ESX 5.0+, VPNs, firewall/proxy, enterprise networks, and Active Directory integration.
  • Supports Citrix Virtual Apps LTSR 2402 on-prem servers and application technology infrastructure, design, implementation, management, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Develops monitoring rules and application solutions for operation teams.
  • Performs system maintenance (e.g., patching), and troubleshooting, traffic and performance analysis per resource engineering group and assignment.
  • Supports Citrix Cloud DaaS migration and deployment leveraging Microsoft Azure and Citrix Cloud.   
  • Designs and documents new and existing infrastructure changes.
  • Assists with configuration of similar production and lab environments and notifies lab management when production system changes.
  • Executes engineering and operational plans and revises as appropriate.
  • Communicates the status of all projects to client, senior technical engineering lead, or project manager.
  • Support system re-design, enhancements and/or upgrades to existing production Remote Access (Citrix) systems.
  • Support test and deploy new enterprise-wide remote access systems/solutions
  • Test and deploy new remote access capabilities that meet the current and expanding needs for the Department; performs research, development, and testing in a lab environment prior to transitioning a product to production environment.
  • Works with application developers to deploy Department-specific applications for remote access use.
  • Collaborates with Engineering Team on future remote access strategies and design enhancements.
  • Engages vendors for advanced troubleshooting and recommendations for system enhancements
  • Provides technical input and presents recommendations and solutions to contractor and government staff.
  • Supports escalations from Tier 2 Operational staff to troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents and/or service requests; performs advanced technical analysis and troubleshooting
  • Document system changes and participate in change control meetings
  • Creates, updates, and maintains SOPs, A&A, system design/architecture documents, system build guides, technical drawings and schematics, training material, and test plans; engages the quality assurance and training team to ensure documents/training material align with enterprise standards.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; may accept additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in an information technology related discipline
  • Extensive hands-on experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining a Citrix Cloud/ DaaS architecture for a large enterprise.
  • Experience with configuring, maintaining, and patching  MS Server 2022
  • Citrix Virtual Apps, Citrix ADC, RSA, VMware
  • Strong familiarity with PowerShell scripts

Required Clearance:

  • US citizenship
  • Active secret clearance with the ability to obtain top secret clearance.

 Desired Education/Skills: 

  • ITIL, CISSP, and/or GIAC Certification
  • MS MCM
  • Azure
  • Microsoft 365 Certified Endpoint Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft O365, Azure, Windows 10/11 desktops
  • MS Windows 10,11 image creation
  • Prior work experience supporting U.S. government agencies
