SAIC is recruiting a High-Performance Computing (HPC) Subject Matter Expert for one of our programs supporting the FDA. The candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. Their role within SAIC will keep them engaged in a diverse, fast-paced government environment while interacting with government stakeholders, team members and SAIC management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical design and architectural leadership, including documenting and diagramming the logical, physical, and process views
  • Define network strategy with respect to technology domain standards and design goals
  • Develop and maintain network roadmaps, which include product selection, versions, upgrades, projects and milestones
  • Support research activities include readings, proof-of-concepts (POC), and lab testing
  • Communicate leading practices by giving presentations, working with program/project teams, and authoring content aimed at educating others about standards, strategies, and otherwise defined leading practices
  • Maintaining current system with its scores of legacy applications while charting a strategy to keep pace with technological improvements within a cost cap

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Self-motivated, professional, and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Aggressive in maintaining and developing expertise
  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools in diverse environments
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts and protocols, to include TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, SMB, SSH, HTTP, and SMTP
  • Expert at RPM-based Linux distros, Rocky 9 in particular. Other distributions a welcome plus
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Open Network Solutions
  • Experience with managing multi-PB, multi-protocol Network-Attached Storage (NAS) (monitoring, backups, permissions)
  • Knowledgeable on server hardware and lights-out management
  • Expert with Slurm
  • Proficient at bash and python scripting.
  • Expert at standardization, modularity and consensus building
  • Familiarity with R, Java, TCL, Ruby, Perl, and PHP desirable
  • Knowledge of network function virtualization Virtual router/switch, virtual FW, Virtual Load Balancers

Education and clearance:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or another related field
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
