Join SAIC's team and play a pivotal role in defending North America. We are seeking an experienced Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to lead cybersecurity and compliance efforts for the critical North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command (N-NC) Information Technology (IT) Enterprise Services (NITES) contract. In this role, you will ensure that customer systems remain secure, compliant, and mission-ready for any challenge.
The ISSE is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing secure information systems that support mission operations. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Information Systems Security Managers (ISSMs), systems engineers, and government stakeholders, to integrate effective security controls and ensure systems remain resilient against evolving threats and vulnerabilities.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
Apply system security engineering and Zero Trust principles to system security design, lifecycle engineering, authentication/authorization mechanisms, cryptography, and intrusion detection in accordance with NIST SP 800-160 Vol. 1 and 2.
Conduct or support technical cybersecurity assessments, security audits, and contingency planning.
Coordinate with cybersecurity personnel to recommend mitigation strategies that reduce operational risk.
Identify system vulnerabilities and instances of non-compliance with cybersecurity standards and regulatory requirements.
Assess portfolios of existing and new security scanning and monitoring tools, ensuring proper integration within system environments and DevSecOps pipelines.
Support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) authorization process by reviewing security documentation and providing risk-based recommendations to stakeholders.
Participate actively in the Change Advisory Board (CAB), assessing the impact of proposed changes and communicating required security artifacts.
Collaborate as a key member of engineering and planning boards, serving as a central point of contact for the RMF team, system owners, and network/virtualization engineers to refine technical design documentation.

Required:
- US Citizen and Active TS/SCI security clearance
- Certification required per DoDD 8140.03, Advanced Level (CISSP or equivalent)
- Bachelor's and Five (5) or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree
- 3+ years of experience as a Cyber Engineer or Systems Security Engineer for DoD systems
- Demonstrated experience with networking concepts, along with Windows and Linux operating systems
- Flexible, independent, self-motivated, and punctual.
Desired:
- Direct experience with RMF artifacts, eMASS record tracking, and POA&M management.
- Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions and Network Monitoring Tools (SolarWinds, Stratosphere, Cisco ISE).
- Experience with the certification of Cross Domain Solutions (CDS).
- In-depth knowledge of network appliances, virtualization platforms, and their security features.
- Familiarity with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and the system acquisition lifecycle.
Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
