SAIC is proud to support the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) under the Infrastructure Support Services (ISS) contract. We are seeking an experienced Linux Administrator to play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of Unix/Linux environments. In this role, you will collaborate with application teams, database administrators (DBAs), and network teams to deliver solutions for intricate technical requirements.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support integration and operation of Unix/Linux systems on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including using tools like AWS EC2, Azure VM, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Maintain Unix/Linux environments running on virtualized platforms, such as VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V, ensuring optimal system performance.
- Monitor system health by utilizing enterprise monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address system issues.
- Optimize system performance by analyzing technical metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and making necessary adjustments.
- Implement robust backup processes and disaster recovery plans for Unix/Linux environments to maintain operational continuity.
- Perform system security hardening, apply patches, and remediate vulnerabilities to maintain compliance with organizational security standards.
- Adhere to and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and policies for the effective management and governance of Unix/Linux systems.
- Manage operating system patching, kernel updates, and system upgrades to enhance reliability and security.
- Execute operational tasks such as configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Unix/Linux servers and associated infrastructure.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and 3 years related experience.
- Proven experience in administering Unix/Linux systems (such as RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu).
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM, Hyper-V) and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong understanding of security best practices, system hardening, and vulnerability management.
- Knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet is advantageous.
- Excellent troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
