SAIC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support SAIC production and manufacturing in support of the Department of War (DOW).
This position:
- Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence, and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.
- May design arrangement of machines within facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
- Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
- Will estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
- Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
- May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
- Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
- Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
- Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
- Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
- Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations including Manufacturing Bill of Materials.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: HS grad and five (5)+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques, especially on cables, cable harnesses, cable assemblies, and electrical enclosures.
- Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives.
- Work is reviewed by supervisor/lead to measure meeting objectives.
- Directs established guidelines, procedures and policies.
- Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors.
- Works under general direction on routine work.
- May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
- Follows established procedures.
- Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy.
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
- Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in allocation of additional resources.
Preferred experience: Ten (10)+ years related to cable manufacturing experience.
