SAIC is seeking a Senior Technical Trainer to support the US Navy in San Diego, CA.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Technical Trainer will support the Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC PAC) Naval Messaging CB ISEA. The work will be conducted at the Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC PAC) San Diego, CA, Old Town Center. The SAIC Team provides a full range of engineering, technical support, management, training, and logistics services in support of the Messaging programs. Support of these systems includes technical support for installations, providing systems and software engineering, software development and infrastructure-as-code, training development and delivery, integration and testing of hardware and software functions, and testing of new baselines and/or new capability of messaging systems.
JOB DUTIES:
- Develop, update, and deliver comprehensive technical training materials for the Naval Messaging In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA), encompassing standardized modules, customized content, and new product training.
- Provide instruction both independently and collaboratively, tailoring content to meet the specific needs of diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate flexibility and commitment by traveling to various locations to provide onsite technical training, with an expected travel commitment of approximately 25% per year.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including customers, fleet organizations, engineering teams, and software developers—to gather requirements and develop comprehensive training programs.
- Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, creating training materials, designing product demonstrations, developing course content, determining appropriate training methodologies, and coordinating the creation of training aids
- Deliver training sessions at Navy operational sites and establish criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities.
- Continuously revise lesson plans to ensure course material accurately reflect product features, address new training requirements, and maintain relevance of technical information
- Contribute to the development and validation of Interactive Electronic Training Manuals.
- Perform testing of applications and messaging systems in the Navy lab environment.
- Candidates will have experience and familiarity with virtualization and Linux/Microsoft environments and possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:
- Bachelor's degree and 5 (five) years related experience or High School Diploma and 9 (nine) years of related experience.
- Naval Messaging application administration and operational experience.
- Candidate should have strong computer and networking skills and demonstrate a working knowledge of current applicable military and commercial standards and specifications.
- Experience developing and delivering military application training.
- Candidate must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Visio, Project, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Word).
- Excellent Communications Skills are essential, with a focus on delivering clear and engaging presentations to small groups (up to 10 participants).
- Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. passport and travel internationally as required.
- Conduct structured, step-by-step technical training sessions, guiding individuals through specific procedures and application tools.
- Provide real-time corrections and support to ensure accurate execution and understanding.
- Current CompTIA Security+ at a minimum or be able to obtain within six months.
- Candidate must be a US Citizen with an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI. Active TS/SCI preferred.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Basic understanding of Windows Active Directory
- Familiarity with Navy messaging systems
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts
- Master Training Specialist or Afloat Training Specialist
- Professional level vendor certifications such as Microsoft or Linux+
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
