Join a winning team!  SAIC's Space and Intelligence Business Group, serving the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) in Chantilly, VA, is on the lookout for a dynamic Space Policy and Programs Engineer. The selected candidate will be instrumental in enhancing satellite system resiliency and contributing to the NRO's space resiliency posture through expert planning, execution, and oversight activities. This position is located in Chantilly, VA and requires an active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), offering unparalleled insight into an emerging mission area and opportunities to secure our nation's space enterprise.
  • Provide support to a customer charged with delivering solutions across rapidly expanding complex space and ground system initiatives.
  • Work closely with Government and other SETA staff to plan, deliver, maintain, and enhance critical mission capabilities for the NRO enterprise. SETA staff collaborate with Intelligence Community (IC) organizations and Department of Defense (DoD) technical providers to maintain awareness of current and emerging threats, and to drive solutions to mitigate these threats
  • Identify internal and external multi-domain interoperability opportunities that benefit and improve space activities in both the NRO and DoD.
  • Provide technical guidance and integration of space systems, including network, data management, cloud, and other related technologies used across the IC and DoD.
  • Conduct technical space working groups, reviews, and provide recommendations to improve space system integration, performance, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document space program and policy requirements.
  • Understand and have the ability to document the compatibility and interoperability between different systems and technologies.
  • Engage with various NRO and DoD space Directorates, gaining insights into their missions, functions, and organization to develop metrics that demonstrate how customers utilize NRO solutions, thereby enhancing military services and stakeholder engagement within the NRO.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate potential risks to maintain the resiliency of our programs and meet both technical and programmatic goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance and Polygraph within the last 9 years.
  • Bachelor Degree with 9 years of relevant operational experience; Master's Degree with 7 years of relevant experience; or PhD or JD and 4 years or more experience.
  • Experience with both IC and DoD modeling and simulation tools.
  • Experience in phenomenology specific to collection and processing methodology, and tasking, command and control, collection, mission processing, and dissemination of the NRO and DoD.
  • Experience with operational NRO, DoD tradecraft, workflows, and policies and procedures.
  • Experience in capturing mission requirements into technical objectives.
  • Experience with Reserve and multi-SAP/CAP programs.
