Description
Description
SAIC is seeking an experienced and driven Space Requirements Engineer to lead efforts in defining and managing mission threads and aligning operational requirements with technical solutions. This role focuses on defining mission-critical use cases, managing traceability across requirements, and supporting high-impact study planning and reporting efforts.
As a technical leader, you will collaborate across teams to ensure operational and system-level integration, driving alignment between architecture, requirements, verification, and mission effectiveness. You will leverage your expertise to shape mission-driven project strategies and optimize system performance for diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Mission Threads and Operational Alignment
Lead Development of Mission Threads: Define and refine mission-level workflows and operational scenarios, ensuring end-user needs and system capabilities align seamlessly.
Mission Analysis: Serve as the primary point of contact for mission analysis activities, working with stakeholders to define operational needs, objectives, and constraints.
Operational Views and Models: Develop detailed operational and functional views (e.g., OV-1s, OV-5s) and use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques to articulate mission architectures and system-of-systems designs.
Ensure End-to-End Traceability: Ensure mission threads are incorporated into system designs, and their requirements flow seamlessly across development and operational phases.
Capability Gap Analysis: Analyze mission workflows, identifying capability gaps and providing recommendations for technical solutions, operational changes, or system enhancements.
Requirements Management and Traceability
High-Level Traceability Oversight: Integrate mission-driven requirements into system and subsystem-level requirements, ensuring traceability across architecture, design, and testing phases.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Lead discussions with multidisciplinary engineering teams and key stakeholders to align operational needs with technical requirements.
Mission Success Criteria: Define and validate measurable objectives, including Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs) and Measures of Performance (MOPs), for mission threads at system and subsystem levels.
Documentation Leadership: Oversee the development and maintenance of requirements traceability matrices (RTMs), ensuring all traceability activities align with project goals and industry standards.
Study Planning and Reporting
Strategic Study Planning: Define the scope, objectives, and execution plans for mission studies, including quantitative and qualitative analysis of operational performance.
Leadership in Reporting: Provide subject matter expertise in creating detailed, structured, and comprehensive study reports and technical briefings for stakeholders and leadership.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze study results, identify areas for improvement, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance system performance and mission success.
Support Modeling and Simulation Efforts: Oversee simulations and scenario-based modeling to validate mission thread performance and ensure alignment with operational goals.
Leadership and Collaboration
Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as a technical leader, guiding teams across engineering disciplines to ensure alignment between mission requirements and system functionality.
Best Practices Expert: Drive the adoption of mission thread-centric approaches, leveraging frameworks such as DoDAF, SysML, or UAF to improve team efficiency and outcomes.
Advancing Innovation: Foster innovation by recommending advanced methodologies, tools, and frameworks for requirements management, mission thread analysis, and study planning.
