Savage's Maintenance System Specialist plays a critical role in sourcing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting our Electrical and Controls processes. This role is a problem solver, providing day-to-day support on-site or remotely, as well as engaging in remote support for sites, including broadly impactful control strategies and strategic initiatives.    The Industrial Electrician and Controls Specialist will work closely with Operations, Equipment, Procurement, and IT systems teams.   The Basics: Location: Midvale, UT Days/Hours: Monday – Friday Hybrid   These are just a few of the benefits you can expect from working with Savage: Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, PTO, Holidays, Profit Sharing, and 401(k) with match. Uniform Services Time Off (USTO) Uniform Services Differential Pay A culture that appreciates Team Members What you'll be doing: Manage the lifecycle of Electrical & controls systems and understand how they integrate into the enterprise system structure. Configure, maintain, and audit Electrical and control systems to ensure they meet the ongoing business requirements. Understand system control narratives and interface tools.   Proactively identify opportunities for improved performance and efficiencies when on site. Ensure electrical training is adequate for the hazards on site.   Audit Electrical PPE needs based on Arc Flash review of MCCs or control panels. Manage HMI and PLCU replacement or upgrade projects. Work with 3rd party controls experts to ensure desired results. Partner with Electrical and Controls engineers to create, document, update, and enhance controls strategy for sites.   Audit PM schedules for specific asset types and ensure they have the proper PMs attached to them Make changes to PM schedules based on Code changes, Reliability, and Operations SME input. Support the differing OEM interfaces (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.)  Responsibilities are not all-inclusive and may change based on the needs of the company. Requirements to be successful in this position: Electrical License required. (Master Electrician is preferred.) or an Electrical Engineering degree. Experience with PLC programming or modifications. Understand working with 480 V and medium voltage gear. Dexterity to test and land wires within the PLC cabinet. Strength and knowledge of pulling wires if needed. Ability to design or edit electrical schematics using AutoCAD or other tools. Able and willing to travel up to 50% (could be several weeks in a row, then at the office. Average will be 50%) Position requires long periods of sitting or standing for several hours at a time. Able and willing to consistently bend, stoop, kneel, and walk on uneven surfaces. Can work at heights in a Man lift or scaffolding, or on ladders. Able and willing to work outside in all weather conditions. Transportation Worker Identification credential (TWIC) card required Must be able to pass a hair follicle drug test to gain access to required sites.   Experience Preferred: 8+ years of experience in reading electrical prints, troubleshooting PLCs and VFDs, and industrial maintenance/repair. Maintenance system experience a plus. Install, wire, and troubleshoot relay-based control panels, motor starters, timers, and control devices. Perform PLC diagnostics (I/O troubleshooting, sensor fault identification, no programming). Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, block diagrams, and control prints. Assist electricians with conduit and wire installations in industrial settings. Support control panel fabrication and wiring modifications. Participate in preventative maintenance and control system upgrades. Adhere to NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA safety standards. Strong knowledge of relay logic, motor controls, and low-voltage control circuits. Familiar with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) for basic field diagnostics. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), highly organized, and self-motivated. Applicable prior roles: Electrician, Master Electrician, Electrical Project Manager, Controls Engineer, Maintenance Logistics. Knowledge of control system integration and industrial panel design best practices. Relevant education: Electrician, Master Electrician, Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer, Systems Controls Specialist.
