The Dairy Processing Operator supports dairy processing operations by operating and monitoring bulk milk cooler systems and related processing equipment to ensure the safe, efficient, and hygienic handling of raw milk. This role follows established procedures to maintain product quality, food safety, and continuous production flow while working under general supervision.
What you'll do- Operate and monitor bulk milk coolers and related dairy processing equipment according to standard operating procedures, production schedules, and quality requirements.
- Monitor process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, and agitation levels, making routine adjustments within established limits.
- Perform pre‑operational checks, equipment startups, shutdowns, and changeovers using standard checklists and procedures.
- Receive, weigh, and sample incoming raw milk, accurately recording results and reporting quality concerns or deviations.
- Execute Clean‑In‑Place (CIP) and sanitation activities in compliance with HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards.
- Complete production logs, batch records, temperature charts, and required documentation accurately and on time.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and quality issues; perform basic troubleshooting within defined guidelines.
- Support preventive maintenance activities, including routine inspections, lubrication, and minor component changes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit‑ready work area while adhering to PPE and safety requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous improvement activities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to operate dairy processing and bulk milk handling equipment after training.
- Basic understanding of food safety principles, including HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret gauges, meters, control panels, and basic process documentation.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine equipment checks and minor adjustments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately complete production and quality records.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and production reporting systems.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting moderate loads.
- Willingness to work in wet, cold, or temperature‑controlled environments.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
