Position Purpose:  

This position will use knowledge of the production process to test and inspect product at various stages of completion and shelf life for compliance to the production schedule and customer specifications. You will be required to understand customer requirements and assist in assuring proper operation. Additionally, you will be required to learn all duties of the lab grading process and line QA tasks for both departments. You will be expected to follow and maintain all related CCP and PCP checks required by the position. You will be expected to complete all checks in a timely and correct manner, serving as an example and resource to other partners. You will need to understand and execute all relative standard operating procedures. You must work with leaders and partners to ensure Food Safety and Partner Safety. You will be responsible for following the reaction plan for Food Safety, Product Quality, and Customer Requirement outages, including contacting the proper leader(s). You will need to be able to work with all partners and leaders in a respectful and effective manner, to allow completion of holds and resolution of issues in a timely manner. You will need to accurately record data in various reports and spreadsheets.  

 

This position requires Intermediate Word and Intermediate Excel with a passing score of 60 or higher. These tests will be taken at the plant prior to an interview.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices and good housekeeping guidelines.  Must follow safety guidelines, wear designated Personal Protective Equipment, and meet OSHA safety requirements.
  • Must be able to identify and understand customer requirements. Must be able to read and understand production orders.
  • Enter data into various reports and spreadsheets to ensure accurate reporting including The Hive, LIMS, Excel and Word.
  • Test product package integrity, oxygen & CO2 level, correct label and code date.
  • Test product quality by sensory & functionality testing as needed.
  • Collect samples for keeping quality and shelf life checks. Complete sample tag.
  • Responsible for holding or releasing product according to quality parameters. Identify defective product or packaging and place on hold for re-inspection or use in rework.
  • Record data and related product information for charts, graphs, and analysis through a variety of Excel Spreadsheets, Word Documents, The Hive & LIMS.
  • Partner accepting this position may be required to work various shifts/schedules to meet the needs of QA/Lab.
  • Help to resolve line issues related to food safety or product quality. Complete proper documentation.
  • Maintain, Perform and Audit Process Control Points & Critical Control Points. Record data accordingly.
  • Partner will perform a position rotation to cover both the lab position and the line QA responsibilities.
  • Must be able to bend over, squat, twist and stoop during the performance of work duties.
  • Operate Automated Pallet Jack (Walkie Lift) using safe forklift techniques and communication around pedestrians. Must understand and complete forklift inspection forms on a daily basis.
  • Keep area clean and debris out of work area.
  • Assist other QAs with issues and tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by TL/TA

Skills needed:

  • Ability to operate a computer. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (testing for Word and Excel is required).

  • Gain and maintain an understanding of all office equipment.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.  
  • Demonstrate ability to use proper lifting and LOTO techniques.

  • Satisfactory attendance record. Must be willing to work weekends, off-shifts, holidays and OT as needed.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have the ability to read, understand and follow written procedures.
  • Proficiency in speaking/reading and comprehension of the English language is required.
  • Work in cold and/or hot conditions.
  • This position requires passing a post-offer background check, physical and drug screen.

  • Climb Stairs/Ladders - As needed during startups, cleanups, midweeks and other times that may be required
  • Lift/Carry - As needed for up to 12 hours
  • Automated Pallet Jack (Walkie Lift) Use - 3 times per hour
