Position Objective:   

To supervise the activities of all shift employees in pursuit of departmental and plant goals in Safety, Quality and Productivity.

Essential Duties (considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge and responsibility):

Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times. Work overtime as required.  Must be willing to work holidays and weekends.

Communicate and enforce standards and expectations for all shift employees.

Perform other duties as assigned by Department Manager.

Work effectively to achieve consistency in daily work related activities utilizing Support Team.

Communicate with existing supervisor regarding any changes, problems, or concerns about which knowledge may be needed to run shift.

Hold weekly safety meeting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Perform Stretch and Flex.

Verify staffing meets current needs.   Correspond with employees and communicate assignments as required.

Review previous production and quality performance.

Ensure current lots are running per specifications.

Verify tube labels correspond with current lots and component numbers on each line.

Ensure all lines are running within set standards

Ensure all lines are producing 1st quality fiber.

Verify and review lot sheets.

Periodically review SPC charts as situations or lab results may warrant.

Maintain safe working environment throughout shift.

Make rounds often to communicate with employees, observe performances and be aware of their whereabouts.

Ensure job requirements are being met.

Observe housekeeping and ensure that a clean and organized environment is present.

Prepare area for a shift change.  Ensure that all standards are being met and area is organized.

Thoroughly communicate with incoming supervisor on any changes made, upcoming changes, special sampling, problem lines, call ins, etc.

Enter all required information into computer, email production report, print out hard copies, post paperwork as needed and organize and file all required hard copies.

Maintain current Lot Sheets at each Maestro by line and note changes as required.

Add or delete recipes as needed, utilizing the department supervisory systems (Maestros)

Review e-mail for current activities or changes as transmitted by Department Manager and others.

Enter absences in Kronos as well as being knowledgeable of other functions.

Distribute Hot Work Permits when requested or required.

Responsible for shift performance in any of safety, quality, productivity and cost.

Monitor and track performance related data in areas of safety, quality and productivity.

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all shift activities.

Complete job change forms as needed.

Communicate procedure changes and pertinent information as needed.

Issue corrective action as needed.

Issue commendations as needed.

Attend meetings as needed.

Issue Quality Alerts when required.

Troubleshoot process as needed.  To include:  Buhler system, Process Control System, finish system, maestros and floor pressure monitoring.

Ability to handle the stress of meeting goals and deadlines.

Support and oversee employee's adherence to 5S and Waste Recycling in the Plant.

Assist other Extrusion personnel as needed.

Other Requirements:

2+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

Possess good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

Preferred:

Must have (4) year degree.
