CNC Machine Operator

1st Shift

Position Summary:
SIG SAUER, Inc. is seeking a CNC Machine Operator to perform daily activities associated with the manufacturing of finished and semi-finished machined goods using automated and manual equipment and processes to meet end-customer needs. This role will report to the Machining Supervisor.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
*Regular on-site attendance/punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
*May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
*Make mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts are meeting quality requirements.
*Communicate recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality.
*Has the working knowledge to demonstrate good manufacturing practices.
*Machine parts by utilizing CNC machines to perform various machine functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic workpieces.
*Maintain a safe, healthy work environment by complying with organization standards and legal regulations.
*Must be able to respond professionally to process improvements.
*Starts and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
*Working knowledge of blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece.
*Grind, file, or sand surfaces of metal items, utilizing a variety of hand/power tools, and machines.
*Move materials and maintain work area according to 5S standards.
*Responsible for visual and physical quality of the parts being loaded and unloaded.
*Demonstrates working ability to identify and replace any broken or worn tools and make tool offsets.
*Examination of surfaces in order to find defects.
*Removal of defects and smoothing of uneven surfaces.
*Follows established process, quality, and production standards.
*And other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
*High School Diploma or Equivalent.
*0-1 years' experience and ability to work with measuring tools, calipers, and micrometers.
*Basic computer and math skills required.
*Basic knowledge of machine shop equipment and practices, specifically those involving metal cutting.
*Must be able to follow and understand written directions and blueprints.

Working Conditions:
*Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) with the exception of lunch and break periods.
*Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
*The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing area where frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts, containers and materials up to 40 pounds.
*Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
*Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, be able to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery.
*Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to focus on fine print.
*Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
*Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
