Position Summary:
The Electro-Mechanical Team Lead is responsible for technical leadership and management of engineering staff to create innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical products related to the firearms industry. Responsibilities include working closely with direct reports, fostering a team-oriented working environment, providing coaching to team members, and supporting other teams and R&D objectives as needed. This management position in the R&D department is generally intended for engineers with a Bachelor's degree and significant relevant work experience which includes project management responsibilities. The Team Lead is an active member of the R&D management team and must collaborate effectively with other departments, including product management and operations. In addition, they will be required to interact effectively with Executive Management and customers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Managerial responsibility for direct reports including Designers, Mechanical & Electrical Engineers, Software Engineers, Test Technicians, and CO-OP/interns.
• Responsible for multiple development programs, ensuring that product requirements are met with robust, cost-effective designs within allotted timelines. Also responsible for assigning tasks and establishing success criteria.
• Review and approve drawings to ensure applicable standards are met and that important tolerance stacks have been documented showing acceptable results.
• Review the results of design analyses and ensure the methods used were appropriate. Exercise sound judgement in assessing the validity of assumptions made. Responsible for ensuring the required analyses for assigned projects are completed. Work closely with Chief Engineers.
• Responsible for final engineering approval of new designs in the PLM system (Agile).
• Review and approve test plans, ensuring that they are logical and thorough. Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of verification testing of all product requirements.
• Responsible for ensuring products are designed with consideration for ease of manufacturing and inspection such that product costs meet plan. Review the acceptability of part non-conformances, providing feedback to suppliers and Quality. Approve or reject waivers and deviations.
• Responsible for ensuring Intellectual Property is protected.
• Provide technical assistance to other departments within Sig Sauer as needed.
• Drive Continuous Improvement in R&D operations. Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
• Must follow all required ISO procedures, comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements, and adhere to SIG SAUER, Inc. security mandates.
• Must be able to travel infrequently.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Required Skills:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 10 or more years of electro-mechanical engineering experience in a R&D environment, 3 or more of which were in a managerial capacity.
• Must be able to convey ideas and information clearly, concisely, and accurately to others, both verbally and in written form.
• Must be proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficiency using Microsoft Project is preferred.
• Must be proficient using CAD software to create parametric solid models and associated drawings (SolidWorks highly preferred).
• Must be proficient with electrical design software and tools (Altium Designer preferred).
• Must be experienced using a PLM system for complete product lines (Agile is preferred).
• Must be able to understand and review complex analyses such as FEA, kinematic and dynamic motion, CFD, heat transfer, and/or electrical system simulations.
• Must possess a strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems and components, including circuit design, power systems, control systems, signal processing, motors, sensors, and actuators.
• Must have a solid understanding of ASME Y14.5 standards including GD&T.
• Must be detail-oriented; able to identify drafting errors and less than optimal dimensioning & tolerancing schemes during drawing review.
• Must understand tolerance stack requirements and results including statistical elements.
• Must have a fundamental understanding of manufacturing methods including machining, metal injection molding, plastic injection molding, stamping/fine blanking, extrusion, forging, and casting as well as knowledge in material selection, heat treatment and coatings.
• Must have familiarity with PCB assembly, soldering, wiring harness fabrication, and electronic testing.
• Must have practical experience with mechanical and electrical assembly.
• Must be able to pro-actively define and resolve highly complex problems by collecting and analyzing data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, and executing viable solutions.
• Must be familiar with industry standards and regulations governing electro-mechanical systems (e.g., ISO, UL, CE, IEEE, IPC).
• Familiarity with ITAR, ATF and EAR regulations is preferred.
• Familiarity with NATO and TOP standards as well as Mil-Specs is preferred.
• Experience using and maintaining firearms and/or related products is preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Working Conditions:
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
