Position Summary:
The Senior NPI Buyer is responsible for quoting, negotiating pricing and purchasing inventory, prototype materials, tooling and services in support of New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. This role requires assessment of vendor and prototype shop capacity and lead time to coordinate with project timelines and due dates. Works with 10+ Design Engineers on multiple programs. The Senior NPI Buyer reports to Supply Chain with functional responsibility to VP Product Development.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
*Primary Liaison between Sig Sauer and our suppliers during NPI process.
*This person may take responsibility for a specific project or hold a larger remit in terms of purchasing responsibility.
*Selects potential suppliers based on commodity / project scope / budget.
*Responsible for establishing new sources as approved suppliers.
*Creates and maintains purchase orders.
*Pulls all documentation and sends out quote requests to suppliers.
*Evaluates supplier quotes and awards accordingly.
*Identifies areas of opportunities that may reduce costs, lead time and quality issues.
*Attend meetings and advise others f issues and concerns.
*Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and ensure good relationships.
*Reviews Engineering Change Requests and identifies open PO liability, effectivity dates and item attributes prior to approving.
*Works with Planning to disposition Excess and Obsolete material.
*Reviews item attributes and submits required changes to the Master Data Management team to implement.
*Working with Production Buyers, facilitate the smooth transition of new items from development through First Article acceptance and release to production.
*A contributing member of the MRB team for dispositioning non-conforming material.
*Escalates supplier related issues in a prompt manner.
*Be assertive, optimistic, professional and open to change.
*Performs other tasks and duties as required.
*Ensure continuous supply of goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact business operations.
*Communicate changes with suppliers through reports, forecasts, verbally and in-person.
*Stay current with the supply base on any changes that may affect the supply and piece price of components and communicate and advise others of the impact.

Requirements/Education and/or Experience:
*Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferred but not required.
*Practical manufacturing machining experience preferred, but not required.
*APICS certification a plus10+ years' experience as a Buyer within a manufacturing environment; 5+ years in NPI role.
*Proven track record working with international suppliers.
*Experience with raw material, forgings, molded plastics, and swiss, lathe, vertical and horizontal machined parts and the various processes involved. MIM experience a plus.
*Ability to read and understand Engineering Drawings.
*Working experience with ERP systems, Oracle EBS and Agile preferred.
*Microsoft Office Suite, proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
*Working knowledge of item attributes and their effects on MRP messages.
*Working experience with FARS and DFARSITAR experience, especially with technical data transfer.
*Excellent organizational skills.
*Presents possible solutions when escalating an issue.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills within all levels of the organization.
*Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
*Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.

Working Conditions:
*Position consists of sitting 75% of the workday
*Travel 10-25%
*Able to lift up to 25 pounds
*Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
