The Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation of accounts payable, accounts receivable and other financial documents. Includes other aspects relating to the accounting cycle including month-end and year-end close and journal entries.   



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Adheres to all safety guidelines and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) preventing incidents or injury to self or others.
  • Performs general accounting functions, specifically accounts payable and generation and reconciliation of report data.
  • Reviews time records, submit payroll, and reconcile pay records.
  • Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Creates month-end and year-end Accounts Payable reports.
  • Input journal or ledger entries.
  • Compile and prepare various management reports.
  • Maintaining accurate filing of all payable's documents and support of physical files.
  • Resolve problems and discrepancies with invoices, billings and credits as they occur.
  • Work on special projects as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area for safe operation as well as customer presentation.
  • Performs work according to the highest quality standards to produce a superior end product, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Participates in and supports the principles of Open Book Management
  • Works with HR and Supervisors to ensure time, hours, and pay are accurate for employees.
  • Assists CFO in establishing standard operating procedures including the development and maintenance of a system of internal controls.
  • Responsible for using various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES


  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles, specifically Accounts Payable.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers.
  • Is detail-oriented to ensure accuracy of financial and payroll reports.
  • Ability to work closely with various department functions including the buyer, material handlers, planner, customers, Production, end-users, Engineering, HR, and Quality.
  • Knowledge of computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite and ADP payroll software.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • One – five years of experience performing general accounting duties required.
  • Experience working in manufacturing/distribution environment preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • ADP or payroll certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB


  • Frequently communicates with shop floor personnel, internal and external customers, and subcontractors to verify payroll and Accounts Payable ledgers.
  • Frequently remains in a sitting position to perform desk duties.
  • Frequently uses the computer with fingers and hands to create reports and ledgers.
  • Frequently views the computer to perform administrative duties.
  • Frequently works in a well-lit, tempered room experiencing temperature changes while communicating with production personnel. 
  • Seldom exposed to loud noises when walking floor during production.
  • Seldom exposed to smoke and carbon monoxide for less than ten minutes when on shop floor.
  • Seldom lifts objects such as office supplies with weight up to 25 pounds.
