Get To Know Us: As Head of Risk & Compliance, you will provide strategic leadership and direction across Risk, Compliance and Governance for our Platform Solutions business. You will play a key role in supporting the CEO, Board, senior leadership and business teams, ensuring we maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance, governance and risk management. This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for fostering a strong risk and compliance culture, maintaining effective relationships with regulators and industry bodies, and ensuring the business continues to operate within applicable regulatory, legal and corporate requirements. - Provide strategic leadership and direction for Risk, Compliance and Governance across the Platform Solutions business.
- Represent and report on risk and compliance activities, key issues and escalations to the Risk Management Committee, Executive Committee and Platform Solutions Boards.
- Provide trusted advice and challenge to Board members, the CEO and business leaders on Risk, Compliance and Governance matters.
- Ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting to the FCA and maintain an open, transparent and constructive relationship with regulators.
- Ensure effective corporate governance is maintained in line with current regulatory requirements and best practice.
- Oversee risk and compliance control frameworks, including compliance monitoring programmes, risk assessments and operational oversight.
- Identify trends, significant control weaknesses and regulatory issues, ensuring appropriate escalation and timely agreement of remedial actions.
- Provide advice on FCA, HMRC and relevant UK legislative and regulatory requirements, including supporting the business through regulatory change.
- Support new business and new product initiatives by providing pragmatic, commercially aware and compliant risk and compliance advice.
- Ensure material risk and compliance issues are escalated promptly to the CEO and Board.
- Lead and develop the Risk & Compliance team, ensuring appropriate responsibilities are delegated according to capability and experience, with effective oversight of delegated activities.
- Promote a strong risk, compliance and governance culture, driving accountability and ownership across the business.
- Coordinate the development, implementation and ongoing review of policies and procedures to reflect legal, regulatory and business changes.
- Ensure appropriate risk and compliance training requirements are identified and addressed across relevant business areas.
- Support the business in developing practical action plans to address issues identified through internal and external monitoring and reviews.
- Maintain appropriate governance databases and registers, including gifts and benefits and personal account dealing, using these to identify trends and potential training requirements.
- Ensure data protection and data security remain key priorities across the business.
- Oversee financial matters relating to Risk & Compliance in line with statutory and corporate requirements.
- Support the resolution of shareholder queries and ensure timely and accurate escalation of relevant updates.
- Maintain appropriate engagement with industry bodies, including PIMFA and Platform Association technical meetings.
- Monitor progress against strategic objectives, policies and plans, ensuring effective delivery and implementation.
- Lead by example, promoting openness, transparency, accountability and a positive corporate culture across the business.
- Significant senior-level experience working within a regulated financial services environment.
- Strong regulatory and technical knowledge, ideally with experience within the UK wealth management and/or platforms sector.
- Experience in a senior Risk, Compliance, Audit, Legal or other assurance and advisory role.
- A strong understanding of UK financial services regulation, including FCA requirements and relevant legislation.
- Good understanding of financial services and investment product requirements.
- Knowledge and experience of data protection and regulatory considerations within financial services.
- A strong understanding of industry requirements, emerging developments and regulatory change.
- The confidence and integrity to challenge, influence and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Experience providing advice and assurance to senior management and Boards.
- Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across a complex organisation.
- Experience implementing and managing projects or programmes across a large organisation or group.
- Strong organisational, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach, balancing effective risk management with the needs of the business.
- Experience leading, developing and motivating a Risk & Compliance team.
- A commitment to Consumer Duty, Consumer Outcomes and delivering fair outcomes for clients and investors.
- A high level of personal integrity, professionalism and accountability, with a commitment to acting with due care, skill and diligence.
- Experience working within a global regulated financial services organisation, either in an internal function or a client-facing advisory capacity, would be desirable.
- A commitment to continuous learning, professional development and maintaining up-to-date regulatory knowledge.
