Overview

This position is in the Data & Analysis Section within the Operations & Safety Bureau at the Vermont Agency of Transportation. The Analyst will work primarily with operations and safety data, which includes, but is not limited to, crash data, other safety data, traffic data, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) data, and mobility/probe data. This position will support all efforts to process and analyze the various datasets but will focus mainly on traffic data in this position. The Analyst will be responsible for knowing the life cycle of data within the bureau and what data sources are available.

 

Main Job Duties will include:

  • Processing and QA/QC of traffic data and associated metadata.  Including continuous count stations, weigh-in-motion sites, coverage counts, turning movement counts, and RPC counts.  
  • Traffic Projections: Maintain underlying data sources and updating ESAL calculator.
  • Bike/ped data management and analysis.  
  • Statistical and geospatial analysis of traffic data: Use of statistical and geospatial methods to analyze traffic data and associated road and network characteristics, including analysis of network coverage and geospatial methods for estimating AADT.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience with GIS, statistical analysis, geospatial analysis, and querying databases. This position is based in Berlin, VT.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or two (2) years college coursework in data science, data analysis, engineering, Geographic Information Systems, or other closely related field.
OR
Two (2) or more years of experience in data science, data analysis, engineering, Geographic Information Systems, or other closely related field.
