Tetra Tech's Infrastructure Division is seeking a municipal engineering CAD designer and drafter to join our Winnipeg Water group.  This group undertakes a wide range of projects including the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure in urban, rural, and remote communities. Their work includes essential systems such as drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater treatment and conveyance as well as site grading, flood protection, drainage solutions and subdivision design. The successful candidate would be joining an exciting and fast-paced environment with excellent learning and growth potential.

You will perform a technical role on a wide variety of assignments under the mentorship of our senior practitioners.  Candidates should have excellent technical skills, relevant industry experience, be driven to succeed, with great communication skills.

Your Role:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

·       Complete various civil and municipal design and drafting assignments related to earthworks movement, piping, and drainage, including site layouts, general arrangement drawings, plans and profiles, and sections and details.

·       Produce drawings from rough sketches and instructions, maps, charts, diagrams in accordance with established practices and techniques.

·       Produce layouts for sites, buildings, piping, utilities, etc; complete dimensional calculations.

·       Capable of making routine decisions within established procedures and well-defined standard practices.

·       Apply industry standard drafting standards and best practices to achieve the required degree of accuracy in details such as density, width and uniformity of lines, placement of lines, letters and symbols.

·       Expected to work in both 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (AutoCAD Civil 3D) environments proficiently.

·       Collaborates with process and civil engineers in developing complete documentation packages and design sets for water/wastewater piped systems, pump stations, lagoons, and other municipal infrastructure. 

·       Performs occasional field inspection, condition assessment, and construction observation.

·       Checks and verifies design drawings and shop drawings to conform to specifications and design data.

·       Work under close supervision with reviews done regularly for technical accuracy and completeness.

·       Demonstrates initiative in carrying out periodic tasks independently and judgement in determining the methods to apply to assigned tasks, resolving problems, obtaining and analyzing data, and in determining the intent of a specification or instruction.

Qualifications:

·       Technical college graduate in engineering technology or computer-aided design (CAD).

·       Experience working in the consulting or construction fields with practice in design, drafting and 3D CAD would be an asset.

·       Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD and Civil 3D software; working knowledge of Microstation or Revit will be considered an asset

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel.

·       Excellent technical and verbal communication skills.

·       Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.

·       Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.  This position requires time management capabilities.

·       Full Class 5 Driver's Licence.
