The Opportunity

Position Overview

Reporting to the Deputy Director-Operations, the Manager, Finance, is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the financial integrity, reliability and accuracy of Australia Awards PNG's finance transactions, reporting and analysis. The role drives the design and implementation of policies, systems, processes and internal controls that foster continuous improvement and innovation, and that enable informed management decision-making

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to and operational management of the program's finance team, ensuring transaction, reporting and analysis are timely, robust, reliable and accurate.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to support efficient and effective finance service delivery across the program.
  • Lead finance policy development and ensure Australia Awards PNG systems and procedures are current, compliant with the Head Contract, PNG legislation, and TetraTech policies.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal control frameworks to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure the integrity of financial operations.
  • Foster effective communication among team members and stakeholders.
  • Supervise and mentor the finance team.
  • Other duties as reasonably requested by DFAT and Tetra Tech.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Accounting or Finance. Current CPA qualification is strongly preferred.
  • At least 10 years' experience in progressively responsible accounting and/or finance roles, including 5 years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management and delivery of timely financial reports in a donor or project environment.
  • Highly developed skills for the use and management of accounting software, preferably QuickBooks.
  • Strong of understanding of business financial operations (approvals, payments, and reporting) and demonstrated capacity to drive operational improvements.
  • Excellent project management skills, and strong computer skills, using all Microsoft Office 365 applications (including advanced Excel skills)
