LOCATION - Manchester / Leeds / Leicester or Edinburgh

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Mechanical Building Services Engineer to support and develop the project delivery capabilities of our busy and successful building services team.

 

Project work will vary across a range of sectors including life sciences, defence, education, commercial, residential, renewable energy, industrial, retail, healthcare and leisure. The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate design experience across similar sectors and have good understanding and design experience working through all RIBA stages 1-4.

 

In this role you will be responsible for undertaking calculations, production of drawings, producing specifications and reports, conducting site surveys, conducting construction stage duties, providing client liaison, consulting with members of design/construction teams and any other relevant duties required to comply with project briefs.

 

Experience using Autodesk Revit MEP and AutoCAD to generate design deliverables would be beneficial. Where required, further training in Revit and other systems will be provided.

 

You will have the passion and drive to deliver projects in accordance with the client's brief and programme, and to help develop good client relationships. You should be capable of managing your own workload, working across multiple projects and working to time allocations.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Conducting mechanical and public health services designs across a range of sectors from concept through to completion
  • Produce detailed design calculations to support designs
  • Produce reports, plant schedule and specifications of all aspects of mechanical building services
  • Production of design drawings
  • Conduct site surveys to establish condition and operation status of existing installations
  • Ensuring compliance with all aspects of construction health and safety regulations
  • Hold (or meet the criteria to hold) security clearance to MOD SC level

 

 

Requirements:

  • The skill set and passion for engineering with the ability to deliver mechanical building services engineering designs across a range of sectors
  • Ideally you will have an accredited Building Services /Mechanical Engineering ONC/HNC or Degree
  • Experience in the design of mechanical and public health services
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative and the confidence to make decisions but recognise the limitations of your own experience
  • Aspirations to pursue career to a senior level and work towards achieving Chartership
  • Knowledge and experience in a range of digital tools including AutoCAD, AutoDesk Revit, IES, NBS and Microsoft packages
  • Develop designs conscious of energy conservation, sustainability and with a knowledge basis of renewable technologies
  • Have good knowledge of appropriate technical standards and legislation
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Ability to work well collaboratively, both internally and with external partners
