Tetra Tech is seeking an Ocean Science Modeler to join our collaborative group of scientists, engineers, and software developers who are focused on addressing environmental concerns associated with coastal applications, offshore oil and gas exploration and development, linear infrastructure on land (pipelines), coastal engineering projects (dredging, pipeline, and cable burials, etc.), water quality, and more broadly renewable energy development (including offshore floating wind). Working with public and private sectors, our team uses state-of-the art numerical modelling tools developed in-house to identify potential trajectory, fate, and effects of released contaminants in inland, coastal, and marine environments. We are looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented team member with an ability and interest to learn quickly in a very dynamic work environment to join our team. The successful candidate will demonstrate logical problem-solving approaches with an ability to work on dynamic and interactive projects both independently and as part of a team.

Your Role:

  • Data preparation and analysis for use in modelling
  • Computational modelling of contaminants in terrestrial, aquatic, estuarine, and offshore environments
  • Preparation of reports and maintenance of environmental/contaminant data archives

 

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science (MSc) or equivalent experience in oceanography or other environmental science
  • 2-5 years of experience in the application of quantitative analyses of met-ocean datasets (and other model data) to solve environmental problems in terrestrial, aquatic, marine, and/or atmospheric ecosystems required
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills in English along with presentation skills of complex scientific concepts
  • Experience with numerical modelling (e.g., contaminants, hydrodynamics, atmospheric), data processing/analysis, and programming (e.g.,
  • MATLAB/Python/FORTRAN)
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Experience with ArcGIS a plus
