Summary: 

Tetra Tech Rooney, a Tetra Tech Inc. business unit that provides consulting engineering primarily to the oil and gas midstream industry, is currently seeking a Pipeline and Facilities Design Engineer, in our Billings, MT office.

We will provide training that will allow our engineers the ability to quickly become active members of our design team.

 

Your Role: This position provides engineering support for pipeline, pump station, and terminal/tank projects nationwide. You will participate in a multi-disciplinary project team. A successful candidate will bring design engineering and technical expertise to a team of established consultants with a proven track record of 40+ years in the Oil & Gas Industry.

  • Pipe routing and overall facility site layout.
  • Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and P&ID Development.
  • Hydraulic calculations, line sizing, pipe material grade and wall thickness selection, and Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) calculations.
  • Equipment sizing, including pumps, motors, metering, sampling, storage tanks, relief valves, pipe, valves, and fittings.
  • Development and ongoing updates to project Scopes of Work and engineering design basis documentation.
  • Conducting field investigations and gathering applicable data to support detailed engineering and design for both greenfield sites and the upgrade, modification, and expansion of existing infrastructure.
  • Coordination and expediting, as necessary, for all assigned project procurement activities, including the review and approval of all equipment and material engineering specifications and technical data sheets, Request for Quotation (“RFQ”) and Request for Purchase (“RFP”) packages, coordinating responses to vendor clarification requests, evaluating vendor proposals, and overseeing the selection of equipment and materials that meets the project design requirements.
  • Preparing construction bid packages, including scopes of work, construction specifications, uniform bid sheets, and associated documentation.
  • Coordinate compliance and permitting efforts.
  • Develop detailed designs of pipelines, compressor/pump stations, and other facilities related scope of work.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in ABET accredited Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or other engineering program. 
  • 4-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE).
  • Willingness to attain PE licensure.
  • Must be able to communicate with peers, contractors, and clients clearly and efficiently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of handling solo projects as well as working with a group, eager to learn and expand your skillset, and be detail oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE licensure.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software.
  • Experience with pipe stress modeling software.

 

Target salary range: $75,000 - $110,000.  The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
