Project Summary:

The West Bank Rapid Response Activity (WB RRA) is anticipated to be a two-year project that seeks to improve stability in conflict affected areas, particularly the northern West Bank. It aims to alleviate grievances, to strengthen communities' abilities to withstand shocks and stressors, and to provide opportunities for youth impacted by violence and conflict. Managed under the GISR MENA mechanism, the activity will operate to respond to immediate and emergent needs, to improve short-term stability in specific geographic areas that have recently emerged as flashpoints.

Position Summary:

The Senior Driver will provide secure transportation for the WB RRA team including staff members, consultants, and project goods/assets, while supporting logistic operations as needed. The Senior Driver will work within transportation, security, and logistics support. The selected candidate will have excellent driving skills and a clean driving record, experience in security and logistics management, and a proactive approach to ensuring safety and security protocols are followed at all times. The Senior Driver will ensure compliance with MSI and Tetra Tech Duty of Care Standards. The Senior Driver will be supervised by the Deputy Chief of Party-Operations (DCOP-Operations) and will be based in Ramallah. The expected frequency of driving per week is around 24 – 32 hours.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Transport WB RRA personnel (i.e., staff members, consultants, others as directed) and goods/assets to and from designated locations throughout the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Israel Safely.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving company vehicles.
  • Assist in vehicle logistics, fueling, cleaning, and recordkeeping as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and routine maintenance of project vehicles as directed.
  • Provide messenger and delivery/pickup services.
  • Conduct pre-trip safety and security inspections of project vehicles, and respond promptly and effectively to emergencies or security incidents during transportation in accordance with established protocols.
  • Follow established protocols for emergency communication and reporting and remain vigilant and aware of surroundings to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, and trip logs.
  • Recommend and implement safety and security measures to safeguard passengers and assets during transportation.
  • Assist with transferring, loading, and unloading goods and materials as needed.
  • Coordinate with other WB RRA team members to ensure timely delivery of supplies and equipment.
  • Support inventory management and stock control activities when/as directed by the DCOP-Operations.
  • Provide copying and binding services if/as directed.
  • Escort service providers performing work on the project premises if/as directed.
  • Monitor field travel in real time and provide timely guidance, advice, and emergency support as needed.
  • Manage required pre-travel preparations as outlined in MSI security plans and procedures to prepare staff for site visits and field travel.
  • Complete incident reports and other documentation as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Valid Israeli commercial driver's license (CDL) is required.
  • Minimum five years of heavy-duty commercial vehicle driving experience is required.
  • Minimum five years of experience in similar roles with international organizations, embassies, etc., is required.
  • Experience driving in the northern West Bank is required.
  • Experience undergoing relevant training, especially defensive driver training, is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff required.
  • Fluency in Arabic with the ability to communicate in English is required. Proficiency in Hebrew is highly desirable.
