The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Systems Engineer II to join our IT & Infrastructure Leadership team based Remotely in Canada. The successful candidate must be able to work on EST or CST schedules.
We seek a candidate with substantial expertise in datacenter technology management, infrastructure architecture across cloud and on premises platforms, and proven project leadership. This position will be responsible for strengthening our IT infrastructure, delivering critical programs, and maintaining security and operational excellence.

Your Role:
- Infrastructure Strategy and Design: Manage and optimize infrastructure designs, dedicating approximately 50% of work time to maintaining high availability, reliability, and performance across IT systems.
- Technology Adoption and Evaluation: Guide the strategic adoption of advanced infrastructure technologies, evaluating and recommending solutions that support business objectives and improve operational effectiveness.
- Technical Documentation: Record existing infrastructure deployments and pinpoint areas where optimization and improvements can be made.
- Incident Response Leadership: Oversee incident response and crisis management processes, developing protocols to minimize risk and protect system integrity.
- Centralized Management Systems: Design and maintain centralized management and analytics systems that streamline operations and deliver actionable insights for informed decision-making.
- Compliance and Governance: Implement comprehensive compliance frameworks to ensure all systems meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Automation and Efficiency: Lead initiatives to automate system provisioning and workflows, increasing operational efficiency and reducing manual intervention.
- Project Management Excellence: Direct cross-functional IT teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of complex infrastructure projects—cloud-based and on-premises—ensuring alignment with strategic business goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Strategic Objectives: Define, plan, execute, and deliver projects within agreed scope, budget, and timelines, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members on best practices and emerging technologies.
- Documentation and Standards: Establish and uphold enterprise standards, processes, and procedures to strengthen operational consistency and quality.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Present project strategies effectively to stakeholders and executive leadership, securing buy-in and support for key initiatives.
- Financial Management: Manage project budgets, oversee Cloud Reserve Instance Plans, forecast expenditures, and ensure delivery within financial constraints.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks that could affect project outcomes.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in systems administration or a similar capacity, with senior-level responsibilities.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, VMware Certified Professional) are good assets.
- Comprehensive understanding of LAN, WAN, network security protocols, and firewall configuration.
- In-depth expertise in Cisco networking technologies and protocols, including TCP/IP, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, Storage Zoning, and FCoE.
- Hardware Expertise: Advanced understanding of enterprise-grade servers (Cisco UCS, Dell), storage solutions and configurations (Pure, Qumulo), and data center networking (Cisco switches).
- Cloud File Storage Solutions: Proficiency in managing cloud file storage platforms such as Nasuni, Azure Files, Qumulo, and Egnyte.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Significant experience with virtual machines, storage, networking, containerization (Docker), and AI technologies on platforms including Azure and AWS.
- Virtualization Technologies: Expert-level knowledge of VMware and other hypervisor environments.
- Operating Systems Expertise: Thorough familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Backup and Recovery Solutions: Hands-on expertise with enterprise backup solutions, particularly Commvault.
- Scripting and Automation: Strong skills in PowerShell scripting, enabling effective task automation and system management.
- Strategic Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information, assess options, and make strategic decisions.
- Exceptional Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective engagement with stakeholders, team members, vendors, and clients.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Proven track record in resolving issues during the project lifecycle with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Effective Time Management: Strong organizational abilities to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Interpersonal Skills: Skilled in building and sustaining productive relationships with stakeholders, team members, and cross-functional partners.
