The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a highly skilled and experienced Solar Construction Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of solar energy construction projects. The ideal candidate will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Job Functions:

The Solar Construction Manager will lead all aspects of project delivery from pre-construction through commissioning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and oversee solar construction projects from pre-construction through commissioning, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Manage on-site construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with schedules, standards, and safety protocols.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts; monitor progress and adjust plans to meet project objectives.
  • Ensure construction work aligns with design specifications, industry standards, and company quality expectations; conduct inspections and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Enforce safety policies, conduct regular site safety meetings, and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Serve as the primary client point of contact, providing regular progress updates and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Ensure all required permits, inspections, and certifications are obtained and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and resources required for project execution.
  • Prepare and present project performance reports, including progress updates, financials, and risk assessments, to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of construction management experience with a focus on solar energy projects.
  • Demonstrated success managing commercial or utility-scale solar projects.
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, design, and construction practices.
  • Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with construction management tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project).
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of safety management practices and OSHA regulations.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP and/or LEED certification.
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Experience managing projects across multiple geographic regions.
  • Georgia SWPPP Blue or Red Card.
  • FAA Drone Certification.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on construction sites.

 

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

  • This position requires regular work on active construction sites with exposure to outdoor conditions, varying terrain, heavy equipment, noise, dust, and changing weather.
  • Travel to project locations may be required depending on project assignments.
